Model
Images
If you own
a model which you feel should be represented in Phoenix, and
have access to a medium-quality (5 megapixel or above) digital
camera then you can take the images which our modelling team
need to create your model yourself.
Taking the
required images vastly speeds up the time taken to create your
model, and will mean there is a much better chance of your favourite
model appearing in Phoenix.
The conditions
in which you take the images of your model are very important
to create the most realistic results.
Currently we
recommend that you take all photographs outside in sunlight,
as this both negates the need for a flash (which usually results
in severe highlights and reflections), and also gives the most
natural realistic lighting of the model for use in the simulation.
You should position
the model so that the sun is located behind you and the camera,
facing the model for best results.
Please take all
images in the highest quality possible, as this produces the
best results when texturing the finished geometry.
Required
images
In order to accurately
model and texture the aircraft which you are submitting, there
are several important images that are needed by our modelling
team:
The
main 6-view images
The most important
images are the main 6 views. These images must be taken as if
the model were a solid box, with each image taken facing directly
at the appropriate face of the imaginary box.
An example of
appropriate 6-view images would be as follows:
These images are the same
for both helicopters and fixed-wing models. When dealing with
helicopters with detachable canopies, the following images should
also be taken in order that the inner workings can be accurately
modelled:
Extra
images
In addition to these 6-view
images, the following images are required in order to complete
the modelling process:

Submitting
images
Once you have
all of the required images, you can submit them by email or
CD-ROM to our modelling department.
If you are sending
them via email you will need to zip the images into an archive,
and split the images between several emails of around 5 MB each
to be accepted by your email server.
If you are sending
your images via CD-ROM please let us know at aircraft@phoenix-sim.com
for more details.
If you have any
other questions or comments please contact us at aircraft@phoenix-sim.com.
